What financial limits apply to medical wigs in Region Östergötland?
In Region Östergötland the allowance for adults is up to SEK 6 000 per 12-month period. It can be used for one wig or split between two wigs within the same period. If the product costs more, you pay the difference yourself. The amount on your own requisition (rekvisition) always applies.
How can I shop with you if I live in Östergötland and your salon is in Stockholm?
It's very simple and completely secure. You don't need to travel anywhere to use your support. Our digital system lets you choose your new hair in the online shop in your own time and redeem your Östergötland requisition (rekvisition) remotely.
How do I go about placing an online order with my requisition in practice?
First, browse our range on the website and choose the style and colour you want. Before completing the purchase at checkout, contact our customer service by phone or email. We help you register your prescription details manually so your regional allowance is deducted directly from your order.
Does Region Östergötland allow you to choose a more expensive wig and pay the difference?
Yes, absolutely. Thanks to the principle of freedom of choice, you are not limited to a particular price range. If you find a human hair wig or a more advanced hair replacement that costs more than the approved maximum of SEK 6 000, you simply pay the remaining amount yourself at the time of purchase.
Is my wig allowance valid per calendar year or per 12 months?
In Region Östergötland the requisition is a time-limited document of value that runs for 12 months from the date your prescriber issued it. That is why it is important to place your order before the end date has passed.
Can I use the allowance for alternative headwear such as a turban or scarf?
Yes, that works perfectly. If you are undergoing temporary medical treatment and during some periods prefer soft fabric headwear to a wig, Region Östergötland approves the allowance being used fully or partly for specially designed medical scarves or turbans from us.
If I travel to Stockholm, can I book a personal fitting at the salon?
You're very welcome. If you're planning a trip, you'll find us in Stockholm by Odenplan and in Uppsala. Always book in advance so we can set aside a private room and give you our full attention throughout your visit.
Does the Östergötland allowance also cover accessories and consumables?
No, the region's medical support is strictly reserved for the wig, hair replacement or scarf itself and the professional cutting in. Ongoing care products for home use – such as special shampoo, conditioner, wig stands, brushes or attachment tape – are always paid for by you.
Who in Region Östergötland healthcare is authorised to issue a requisition?
The document is issued after an individual medical assessment. It is your responsible specialist (for example in dermatology for alopecia, or oncology for cancer treatment at Linköping University Hospital or Vrinnevi hospital in Norrköping) who is authorised to prescribe the support. A regular health centre usually cannot issue it.
How do invoicing and paperwork work between you and the region?
We handle all the paperwork for you so you don't have to pay upfront or deal with receipts. Once we have validated and registered your valid requisition details, we send the invoice for the approved amount directly to Region Östergötland, and you only pay any difference.
