What is butterfly weft?

A hand-tied hair weft where the short strands are folded inwards rather than upwards. That gives an unusually thin edge with no return hair, which lies flat against the head.

Is butterfly weft sewn in?

No, never. The weft has pre-drilled holes that the microrings are threaded through. No needle, no glue and no heat.

What is the difference from an ordinary hair weft?

A machine-sewn weft has return hair in the seam, which gives a thicker and stiffer edge. Butterfly weft has strands folded inwards and therefore a soft, thin edge.

Can the weft be cut to width?

Yes, it does not shed when cut. That means it can be adapted exactly to your head, rather than you adapting the placement to the weft.

How often does it need moving up?

Every two to three months, since it sits on microrings. The hair is reused – only the rings are replaced.

Is butterfly weft right for fine hair?

Yes, and that is often where the method comes into its own. The thin edge and the even distribution of weight put less strain on fine hair than heavier attachments.

How much hair do I need?

For thickness alone, 50 to 100 grams is usually enough. For both length and fullness most people land at 150 to 200 grams. Each pack contains 50 grams.

Which lengths and textures are available?

Straight and wavy in 50, 60 and 70 cm, curly in 50 cm. Straight has the widest color range with 14 shades.

Can I put the hair up?

Yes, the thin edge does not peek through as easily as an ordinary weft when the hair is lifted off the neck. It is one of the method's biggest advantages.

Kan jag sätta i den själv?

Yes. You pull one strand from each side through two holes next to each other in the weft, and lock the two micro rings together where they meet. You'll need micro rings and micro ring pliers with a hook. If you'd rather have help, we do the installation in Stockholm and Uppsala.

Butterfly weft – a thin edge with no return hair
In butterfly weft the short strands are folded inwards instead of upwards, so the edge stays soft and thin. The weft has pre-drilled holes and is attached with micro rings – it is never sewn.

1. What? – Hand-tied weft attached with micro rings.

Adjusted to your head
The weft can be cut to width without shedding. At the move-up the hair is reused, only the rings are replaced.

Textures and colors
Straight and wavy come in 50, 60 and 70 cm, curly in 50 cm. Straight has the widest color selection, with solid shades, ombré and piano. Send us a photo of your hair in daylight and we will help you choose the shade.

How much hair do you need?
Each pack contains 50 grams. For added thickness 50–100 grams is often enough, for length and fullness 150–200 grams.

Fitting butterfly weft yourself
Part the hair in a straight line and place the weft just below the parting. Pull one strand from each side through its own hole with the hook tool, following the natural growth direction. The holes should sit next to each other, and the two micro rings meet between them and are closed into one attachment point. If your hair is fine, use more attachment points so the weight is evenly distributed. You'll need micro rings and micro ring pliers with a hook.

Coloring
The hair is human hair and can be colored both darker and lighter. Have a hairdresser do the coloring and test on a small section first so the result is even.
