For many people, a human hair wig is the difference between hiding something and feeling whole again. Unlike synthetic models, a human hair wig is made from 100% human hair, which means it catches the light, moves and falls just like your own hair. It can be washed, blow-dried, straightened and curled, and it can be cut and reshaped whenever you want a new style. The result is a wig that no one needs to know you are wearing.

What is Remy hair - and why does it matter?
Not all human hair wigs are the same. Quality is determined by how the hair has been collected and treated. In Remy hair, all the strands face the same direction, with the cuticle intact and aligned in the same direction from root to tip. That detail is what gives the hair its natural shine, soft movement and long durability.
In cheaper wigs, the hair strands face different directions, causing the cuticles to catch on one another. The hair tangles, mats at the nape and quickly loses its shine. Properly cared-for genuine Remy hair, on the other hand, lasts for several years of daily use.

Human hair wig or synthetic wig - which one is right for you?
Both materials have their advantages, and the choice mainly depends on how you want to use the wig in everyday life. Many of our customers have a human hair wig as their daily wig and a heat-resistant synthetic wig as a backup or for travel.
A human hair wig looks and moves like natural hair, can be freely styled with heat, can be toned and colored, and lasts for several years with proper care. At the same time, it requires washing and care just like your own hair and is a higher investment.
A synthetic wig retains its shape after washing and requires minimal care, but it cannot be colored, withstands heat only if it is heat-resistant, and has a shorter lifespan - from a few months up to a year.
In short: if you want the most natural feel possible and the freedom to restyle your hair, choose human hair. If you want a ready-made look that holds its shape without effort, synthetic hair can be a good complement.
Wig construction - Lace front, monofilament and hand-tied
In addition to the hair, the base determines how natural and comfortable the wig will be. This is where the biggest difference is noticeable once the wig is in place.
Lace front is a thin, skin-colored lace along the hairline, where each strand is hand-tied. It creates a soft, invisible hairline and allows you to wear the hair swept back or with the part wherever you want it.
Monofilament is a fine mesh at the crown where the hairs are individually tied, making it look as though the hair is growing from your own scalp. It also allows movement in the parting and feels more airy against the skin.
In a fully hand-tied wig, the entire base is tied by hand, strand by strand. It is the lightest and most flexible construction and the one we often recommend for sensitive scalps, for example during or after chemotherapy.
Medical wigs for hair loss
Hair loss can have many causes: chemotherapy, alopecia areata, hereditary female pattern hair loss, thyroid disease, stress, trichotillomania or scarring of the scalp. In our experience, needs vary at different stages, and the most important thing is that you feel comfortable with both the wig and the person helping you.
Our medical wigs have soft, skin-friendly bases without hard seams and stay securely in place without pinching. In cases of early thinning at the crown, where you still have your own hair around the sides, a human hair topper may be a better and more discreet alternative to a full wig. We also offer turbans for days when you want something lighter, as well as men's wigs and toupees.
Referral and wig allowance
If you have diagnosed hair loss, you may be entitled to a wig allowance from your region. The allowance is applied for through a doctor or healthcare provider, who then gives you a referral to bring to us. Fairwithhair is affiliated with Region Stockholm and accepts referrals. If the wig costs more than the allowance, you pay the difference yourself.

Complimentary wig fitting in Stockholm
Trying on a wig in person makes a big difference. Color and length look different in real life than on a screen, and the fit needs to feel right against your scalp. With us, the consultation and fitting are complimentary and take approximately one hour.
During the visit, we review your hair situation, try different models, lengths and shades, and measure the circumference of your head. If we have the right wig in stock, you can take it home the same day. If it needs to be ordered, colored or customized, we book a follow-up appointment, usually within a few days to two weeks. Cutting and customization are always included - no wig leaves the salon without being shaped to suit your face.

How to care for your human hair wig
A human hair wig does not receive nourishment from the scalp, so all moisture must be supplied from the outside. With the right routine, the wig will last significantly longer.
- Wash moderately often - approximately every tenth to fifteenth wear, or when the hair feels weighed down by product.
- Brush it out first - detangle the hair from the ends upward with a wig or loop brush before wetting it.
- Lukewarm water and mild products - use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner intended for human hair.
- Never rub the base - let the water run through the hair in the direction of the hair.
- Air-dry on a wig stand - let the wig dry freely and avoid sleeping with damp hair.
- Use heat protection every time - use low to medium heat with straighteners or curling irons.
- Store it properly - on a stand or in its packaging, away from direct sunlight.
