Butterfly Weft

Butterfly weft is a hand-tied hair weft with an unusually thin edge and no return hair at all, so it lies flat against the head without building height at the attachment. It is fixed to microrings through pre-drilled holes and is never sewn.

FAQs

What is butterfly weft?

A hand-tied hair weft where the short strands are folded inwards rather than upwards. That gives an unusually thin edge with no return hair, which lies flat against the head.

Is butterfly weft sewn in?

No, never. The weft has pre-drilled holes that the microrings are threaded through. No needle, no glue and no heat.

What is the difference from an ordinary hair weft?

A machine-sewn weft has return hair in the seam, which gives a thicker and stiffer edge. Butterfly weft has strands folded inwards and therefore a soft, thin edge.

Can the weft be cut to width?

Yes, it does not shed when cut. That means it can be adapted exactly to your head, rather than you adapting the placement to the weft.

How often does it need moving up?

Every two to three months, since it sits on microrings. The hair is reused – only the rings are replaced.

Everything you need to know about Butterfly Weft

Butterfly Weft – a Hand-Tied Edge With No Return Hair
In a machine-sewn hair weft the short strands are folded upwards and form return hair, which gives a thicker and stiffer edge. In a butterfly weft the strands are folded inwards instead, so the edge stays soft and thin. The difference shows above all when you wear your hair up or run your hand through it.

It is never sewn
The weft has pre-drilled holes that the microrings are threaded through. No needle, no glue, no heat and no chemicals. It can also be cut to width without shedding, which means it is adapted to your head rather than the other way round.

Move-ups and reuse
Move-ups are done every two to three months, since the weft sits on microrings. The hair can be reused several times – only the rings are replaced.

Textures, lengths and colors
Straight and wavy come in 50, 60 and 70 cm. Curly comes in 50 cm. Straight has the widest color range with 14 shades. Ombré is written with R and the root first, piano with P and the darkest color first, and balayage is written out in full.

How much hair do you need?
Most people need between one and four rows depending on hair thickness, desired length and texture. If you only want more thickness, 50 to 100 grams is usually enough. For both length and fullness most people land at 150 to 200 grams. Each pack contains 50 grams.

Is it right for fine hair?
Yes, and that is often where the method comes into its own. The thin edge and the even distribution of weight mean fine hair is under less strain than with heavier attachments. We adjust the amount to what your own hair can carry.

Fitting in Stockholm and Uppsala
We sell the hair on its own and also carry out fitting and refitting at our salons. The consultation is free.
