Hair extensions always turn out best when your own hair is well prepared. The groundwork affects both how the bonds sit and how long the result lasts. So the weeks before your appointment are far from wasted – they affect the result more than most people think.
Four weeks before
- Don't bleach your hair. If you want to change the colour, do it now rather than later – the colour will be more even and we can match the extensions to the right shade.
- Trim off damaged ends. They don't disappear just because they are hidden, and healthy ends blend better with the extensions.
- Wait for an irritated scalp to settle down.
Two weeks before
- A deep conditioning treatment once a week
- Cut back on heat styling
- Start using a sulphate-free shampoo
The day before
- Wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo, with no conditioner near the scalp
- No dry shampoo, oil, leave-in conditioner, serum or heavy styling products
- Gently brush through your hair from the ends upwards, without pulling at the scalp
A clean base gives the bonds a proper grip.
Come with completely dry hair
Moisture in the hair stops the bonds from sitting as they should. Blow-dry your hair completely dry, come with your hair down and skip the styling products.

Book your move-up straight away
We set a date at the time of installation, so the bonds don't have time to grow out too far. As a guide:
- Tape: every 8 to 10 weeks
- Micro rings and hair weft: every two to three months
- Keratin bonds: every three to four months
- Hair weft and sew-in: every two to three months
- Full weave: roughly every three months
