If you've never had a sew-in before, it can help to know exactly what happens. Here's the whole appointment, step by step.
1. The hair is washed and prepared
It all starts with a clean base. We wash with a clarifying shampoo, put no conditioner on the scalp and blow the hair completely dry. That makes the braids stable and lets the weft sit as it should.
2. The braids are laid close to the scalp
We make soft, thin braids in a pattern that suits your head and hair type.
- The braids should feel firm but never tight
- Shape and placement are adapted to your style and where you want to be able to wear your hair up
- If anything feels tight, say so straight away – we redo it on the spot
The braids are the foundation of the whole method, and this is where the result is decided.
3. The weft is measured and cut
Each section of the weft – the hair weft, as it's often called – is measured against the braid pattern and cut to the right lengths, so the hair is distributed evenly across the head.
4. The weft is sewn on by hand
This is the heart of the appointment. We sew the weft onto the braids, entirely without glue, tape or heat. That's what makes sew-in so stable.
5. The hair is cut into your style
Once everything is attached, the hair is blended in: cutting through the lengths and ends, shape and volume adapted, and styling so the fall is soft. This step decides whether the transition shows or not.
6. You get aftercare advice
Before you leave we go through how to brush, how often to wash, which products suit your hair and how to protect it at night. We also book your next appointment straight away, roughly two to three months ahead.
How long does it take?
Allow two to three hours, depending on hair length, amount and hair type. You'll be sitting still for a while, so bring something to do.
