With a sew-in, your own hair is braided in thin rows and hair weft is sewn onto the braid with needle and thread. No glue and no heat touch your own hair.
- What? – Hair weft sewn onto a mini braid with thread.
- Who? – All hair types, including thin hair, wants volume and length.
- How long? – Lasts for months, move-up every two to three months.
- Pros/cons? – Pros: gentle, lots of hair, reusable. Cons: the rows can be felt for the first few days.
Why sew-in is our most booked method
This is the method we do most in the salon, and the reason is simple: it gives the most hair with the least strain. Because the weight is spread along a whole braid rather than at individual points, no single strands take the load – which makes it a good choice even if you've lost hair from heavy attachments in the past.
We place the rows according to your hair growth and how you usually wear your hair. If you always have a centre parting, the rows go differently than if you have a side parting or often wear a ponytail. We decide this together before we start.
If you'd like an even flatter result, we use the same technique with butterfly weft – a thinner, hand-tied weft with a softer edge. You'll notice the difference most when you wear your hair up or sleep on it.
What's included in the treatment
The treatment includes colour matching in daylight, braiding, installation and a cut so the hair extensions blend with your own hair. You leave with your hair finished.
Our salon and shop are at Norrtullsgatan 26A, a few minutes from Odenplan. Treatments are booked in advance through the website.
Frequently asked questions
How much of my own hair do I need for a sew-in?
Your hair needs to be long enough to braid – in practice roughly shoulder length or just below. If it's shorter, we'd rather look at another method during the consultation.
Will I feel the rows for the first few days?
Yes, it's normal to feel the braids for the first day or so, a bit like after a tight ponytail. The feeling fades once your scalp gets used to it.
Can I ask for looser braids if my scalp is sensitive?
Yes, just tell us straight away. We braid with the tension needed for the weft to stay in place, but it should never hurt.
