A keratin treatment coats each hair strand in a smooth film of keratin that reduces frizz and makes your hair easier to style. Your hair becomes softer, shinier and dries faster.
How the treatment works
The treatment takes a few hours. We wash your hair with a preparatory shampoo that opens up the hair cuticle, apply the product section by section, blow-dry and then seal it with a flat iron at the right temperature. The result lasts three to six months depending on your lifestyle, your hair care and how closely you follow the aftercare advice, and it fades gradually rather than growing out with a visible line.
Who is it for?
This is the right treatment if your hair frizzes in humidity, takes a long time to blow-dry or feels hard to manage. It is not a permanent straightening. Curly hair becomes softer and more manageable, but keeps its shape if you let it air-dry.
After the treatment
Leave your hair alone for 72 hours, that is three days. No washing, no hair clips, no updos and nothing tucked behind your ears – anything that bends the hair can leave marks while the keratin sets. After that, use a sulphate-free shampoo, otherwise the treatment breaks down faster.
We do keratin treatments in our salon at Norrtullsgatan 26A, and in the shop you will find Cocochoco for home use, as well as hair care that helps the treatment last.
Frequently asked questions
How long do I have to wait before washing my hair?
72 hours, that is three days. During that time, also avoid hair ties, clips and wearing your hair up.
Can I have a keratin treatment if I have hair extensions?
Often yes, but it depends on the method and how well the bonds tolerate heat. Tell us which method you have when you book, and we will assess it in advance.
Does the treatment work on curly and afro hair?
Yes, but expect softer, more manageable curls rather than straight hair. If you want a straighter result, we would rather talk about a permanent straightening treatment.
