Hair weft and micro weft are often mentioned in the same breath, and many people think they are two competing methods. They're not – they are two parts of the same thing.
Hair weft is the hair
A hair weft is a long row of human hair sewn together along a thin seam. It lies flat, is flexible and is cut to suit your head and your hairstyle.
Micro weft is the method
Micro weft is the way the hair is attached. Small rings are clamped around thin sections of your own hair, and the hair weft is attached to them. No heat, no glue.
In short
- Hair weft = the hair itself
- Micro weft = the technique that holds it in place
The same hair weft can also be sewn onto braids, which is the method we call sew-in. That's the difference between the two: the same hair, a different attachment.
Micro weft or sew-in?
- Micro weft suits you if you don't want braids as a base and want easier access to your scalp between washes.
- Sew-in suits you if you want maximum stability and an attachment that spreads the weight across the braids.
We go through both during the consultation and recommend what suits your hair type – not whatever happens to be most popular.
This suits you if you
- Want gentle extensions without glue or heat
- Want a natural transition
- Are looking for volume, length or both
- Want to be able to reuse the hair several times
