Everything you need to know about Texturizer, Keratin Treatment & Shave Permanent in Stockholm
Professional keratin treatment, texturizer and relaxer
Managing unruly, frizzy or hard-to-handle hair takes time and energy. Daily use of flat irons and blow-dryers also wears down the quality of your hair over time. A professional treatment tames your natural texture and gives you a result that lasts for months. We carry out all of these treatments at both of our salons, in Stockholm and in Uppsala.
Keratin treatment — frizz-free hair that keeps its shape
A keratin treatment does not straighten your hair. It tames frizz, closes the cuticle and makes the hair soft, shiny and easier to style, while your natural texture stays. If you have curly hair, the curls often come out finer and more defined after the treatment, not straight. That is the most common misconception about keratin, and the difference is worth understanding before you book.
How it works
Keratin is a protein already present in hair, skin and nails. The treatment fills in the porous and damaged parts of the hair shaft, which makes the hair resistant to humidity and far easier to handle. Because the treatment does not break down the hair's internal sulfur bonds, the result is semi-permanent and washes out slowly over three to five months. The transition stays soft as your hair grows, with no visible line.
Relaxer — for a lasting straight result
If you want completely straight hair, a relaxer is the method, not keratin. Unlike keratin, which works on the surface, a relaxer permanently breaks down the bonds that create the curl and restructures the hair into a straight form. The result on treated lengths is permanent and grows out rather than washing out. After a few months the new growth at the roots is treated.
Texturizer — a softer texture without straightening
A texturizer sits in between. It loosens a very tight curl pattern so the hair becomes softer and easier to shape, while keeping the curl. It suits you if your hair feels too compact but you do not want to lose the texture.
Which treatment suits you?
If you want to get rid of frizz and have hair that is easier to style while keeping your curl, choose a keratin treatment. If you want completely straight hair, choose a relaxer. If you want to keep the curl but make it softer and easier to work with, choose a texturizer. If you are unsure, book a free consultation and we will look at your hair first.
Aftercare for a lasting result
After a keratin treatment it is essential to switch to sulfate-free products. Sulfates and salts dissolve the keratin early and shorten the life of the treatment dramatically. Whichever treatment you chose, your hair needs plenty of moisture — add a deeply nourishing mask and a leave-in conditioner to your weekly routine.
