Sew-in extensions work on fine hair too, but they need the right technique and the right amount of hair. Done wrong, they feel heavy; done right, it's one of the gentlest methods we offer.
Why fine hair needs an adapted technique
Fine hair has fewer strands to carry the weight. With the right technique you get even weight distribution, natural fullness and a scalp that feels comfortable for as long as you wear them.
The braids should be soft
- Close together but soft – never tight
- They should follow the scalp without pulling
- No tension at the temples or nape, where the hair is finest
A lighter amount of hair
One to two hair wefts are usually enough. Less weight gives a softer fall, and the hair looks natural all the way through the lengths. If you want a lot of length and a lot of volume at the same time, we'll be honest and say no – that's usually where the problems start.
Choose a texture close to your own hair
- Straight hair with straight
- Wavy blends in easily
- Curly and Deep Wave add fullness without extra weight
The closer the texture is to your own hair, the less hair you need for the same result. See our textures among our hair weft and Weft Hair range.
Styling without strain
- Always use heat protection
- Low to medium heat
- Don't pull on the braids when you put your hair up
- Brush gently from the ends upwards
Prevent tangles at the attachments
Fine hair tangles more easily. Brush morning and evening, sleep with a loose braid, use a serum or light oil on the ends and wash every five to eight days.
How to tell it's been done right
- The hair feels secure but not heavy
- You've gained fullness without your scalp feeling tight
- No irritation or tenderness after the first few days
If it feels heavy or tight, it's not something you should put up with – get in touch and we'll adjust it.
When we recommend something else
If your hair is very fine or you're going through a period of hair loss, clip-on extensions may be a better choice for a while, since nothing is fixed in place. Book a free consultation with us in Stockholm or Uppsala, and we'll look at your hair before deciding on a method.
