Ready to wear means the wig is ready to wear. In practice, it rarely is straight out of the packaging. The lace is still uncut, the style is the factory's rather than yours, and the curls sit the way they did in the box. That difference is what we take care of.
What we do for you
We cut the lace
The transparent edge at the front has to be cut to follow your own hairline, millimetre by millimetre. Cut too far back and an edge shows; cut too close and the fine baby hairs that make the hairline believable disappear. This is the single most important step – and the one most people get wrong at home. A mistake cannot be undone.
We cut in the style
A wig arrives with a general length and shape. We cut it to suit your face: shorter around the cheeks if you want to soften, a longer fringe if you want to frame, and layers so the hair moves instead of hanging like a straight wall.
We style the wig
We shape it so you can see how it should sit, and show you how to recreate the look at home. If it is real hair, we can also tone it so it is closer to your previous hair colour or your skin tone.
We adjust the fit
The straps are tightened or loosened so the wig sits securely without pressing. A wig that slips makes you feel unsure all day; one that presses gives you a headache by lunchtime.
Who is this for?
- You are buying a wig for the first time and do not want to cut the lace yourself
- You have a wig at home that you have never been quite happy with
- You will wear a wig daily and want it to look like your hair, not like a wig
- You have received a wig through the healthcare system and want to make it your own
Two ways to get it done
In the salon. Book an appointment in Stockholm or Uppsala and we cut on the spot with you in the chair. We adjust while you see the result, and you take the wig home finished.
As an add-on when you order online. Add the service to your cart together with your new wig, and we do the work before we ship. It then arrives finished and ready to put on.
If you only want the lace cut, choose Lace-Cut. If fit and style should be included in the same job, Custom Fit is the right service. All services are in the Wig Atelier.
Already have a wig?
Bring it along. We also work on wigs bought elsewhere, both real hair and synthetic. If the lace has already been cut, we can often still rescue the result – but let us know when you book so we set aside the right amount of time.
If you are unsure which wig to choose in the first place, read about real hair versus synthetic.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the work take if I order online?
It adds a few days to delivery, because the wig goes into the workshop before it is shipped. We will get in touch if we see anything we need to check with you first.
How do you know what my hairline looks like if I do not come in?
We ask for photos from the front and the side, and for your measurements. The lace is then cut a little more cautiously than in the salon, so there is margin left to fine-tune at home.
Can I change the style later?
Yes, shorter or more layered is always possible. The other way round is not – wig hair does not grow back. That is why we cut cautiously the first time and would rather take more off at a second visit.
