Wig with a requisition (rekvisition) across Sweden

A requisition (rekvisition) is a referral from the Swedish healthcare system that entitles you to an allowance for a wig or other hair replacement when you lose your hair for medical reasons. This may be due to chemotherapy, radiation, alopecia, hormonal changes or other medical conditions. Your doctor or another prescriber always makes the assessment and issues the requisition – often your contact nurse at the treating clinic. Many people never find out that this option exists unless they ask, so do ask.

The amounts differ between regions
Each region decides how large the allowance is, how long the requisition is valid and what it may be used for. The differences are significant – between 5,000 and 8,000 SEK for adults, with separate rules for children, for temporary and permanent hair loss, and for how often the allowance can be used. Some regions count per calendar year, others per twelve-month period from the date the requisition was issued. The requisition is issued by the region where you receive your care – not always the one where you live.

What you can use the allowance for with us
With a requisition, you can choose wigs in Luxury real human hair, vegan synthetic wigs and hair extensions in Luxury quality. In several regions, the allowance can also be used for hair extensions such as Mesh, if you still have your own hair but thinner areas. We deliberately work with our medical range for requisition purchases: constructions such as Lace Front Plus, Classic Cap, Mono Top and Mono Part sit comfortably on a sensitive scalp, and all our wigs are glueless. The rules differ between regions, so get in touch before you buy and we will check exactly what your requisition covers.

We handle the paperwork
Bring the original requisition with you, or email it to us if you shop online. We invoice the region directly for the approved amount, and you only pay any difference if the product costs more. Accessories such as shampoo, conditioner, wig stands and tape are not covered by the allowance. Always check the expiry date on your requisition. If it expires, the right to the amount lapses and your healthcare provider will need to issue a new one.
