Mesh när håret växer tillbaka efter cellgift

When hair starts coming back after chemotherapy, a period begins that few people talk about: the hair is there, but it's too short to be a style, and the wig starts to feel unnecessary. That period can last a long time.

Mesh is often the method for exactly that time.

Why mesh and not something else

New growth is short, fine and often different in texture from the hair you had before. Individual bonds – keratin, tape, micro rings – are all carried by your own strands, and those strands aren't ready to carry anything yet.

Mesh works the other way round. A soft net rests against the head and the hair is bound into the net, so the weight is spread across the whole surface instead of hanging from individual strands. No heat, no glue, no chemicals against the scalp – and your own hair is left to grow undisturbed underneath.

When it's time

There's no date that applies to everyone. What decides is how your scalp is doing and how much hair has come back, not how long it's been since your last treatment.

Check with your doctor or specialist nurse first. They know your treatment; we don't.

Sometimes we say no

If the scalp is still tender, dry or irritated, we'd rather wait a few weeks. That isn't a setback – it's the difference between a treatment that feels good and one that has to be taken out again.

In the meantime a wig, a turban or clip-ons work as a bridge.

Come in before you decide

The consultation is free and you don't have to decide anything on the day. Many people come simply to find out where they stand – how far there is to go, what can be done now and what has to wait.

You don't need to explain anything you don't want to explain. Bring a photo of your hair as it used to look if you have one – for most people the goal is to recognise themselves, not to change.

A step along the way

Mesh is redone as your own hair gets longer and stronger. For many it's exactly that: mesh first, then micro rings or sew-in once the hair can carry it.

Prescriptions

If you have a prescription (rekvisition) from your region, it can be used for both wigs and hair extensions, mesh included. Rules and amounts differ between regions – bring the prescription with you and we'll go through what yours covers and handle the paperwork for you.

Book a consultation

Read more about how the treatment works in our guide to mesh, or book an appointment with us in Stockholm or Uppsala. If you'd rather start with a conversation at a distance, that's fine too.
