FAQ about real human hair extensions

What does Remy hair mean?

That all the strands lie with their cuticles in the same direction, just like growing hair. This means the hair tangles less, keeps its shine longer and feels soft even after many washes.

Which method suits my hair?

If you have fine or thin hair, tape, keratin strands and Mesh are usually the gentlest. If you have normal to thick hair, hair weft, invisible weft and butterfly weft work well. We'll go through your hair at a free consultation.

Can the hair extensions be coloured?

Yes, both darker and lighter. Have a hairdresser colour it and test on a small strand first so the result is even.

How long do the different methods last?

Tape needs a move-up every 8–10 weeks, micro rings and micro weft every 2–3 months. Keratin strands last 3–4 months and are then fully reinstalled. Clip-ins, halos and ponytails stay in only on the day you wear them.

How much hair do I need?

It depends on the method and how thick your own hair is. Keratin strands are sold in packs of 20, with 40–80 strands for thickening and 100–140 for lengthening. Tape is sold in 20 g packs, and a Luxury clip-in set is enough for a full lengthening. Send us a photo of your hair and we'll work out the amount for you.

Can I heat-style the hair?

Yes, human hair handles straighteners and curling irons just like your own. Always use heat protection and keep the temperature down – hair extensions get no new nourishment from the scalp.

What's the difference between invisible weft and butterfly weft?

Both attach to micro rings and lie flat against the head. Invisible weft has a thin, invisible top that blends into the scalp. Butterfly weft has pre-made holes the rings are threaded through, and is never sewn.

How do I wash the hair extensions?

With a mild, sulphate-free shampoo in lukewarm water – let the lather run through the lengths. Conditioner and masks go on the lengths and ends, never near the bonds. Let the hair air-dry and only brush once it's dry.

How do I find the right colour?

Photograph your hair in daylight without flash and send us the picture, and we'll match the shade. In the salon, we hold the colour chart against your own hair. The most natural result often comes from blending two shades.

Can I put the extensions in myself?

You can put in clip-ins, halos and ponytails yourself in a few minutes. Tape, keratin, micro rings, hair weft and weft need a technician – we do installation and reinstallation in Stockholm and Uppsala.

Everything you need to know about Human Hair Extensions

Human hair extensions in three qualities
Our human hair extensions are 100% human hair that you can colour darker or lighter, heat-style and care for just like your own hair. We have three qualities. Classic is human hair but not Remy, a good choice if you want to try hair extensions at a lower price. Premium and Luxury are Remy hair, with all the strands lying with their cuticles in the same direction from root to tip. That means less tangling, more shine and hair that lasts longer, and Luxury is our highest quality.

Choose a method to suit your hair
The right method depends on how thick your own hair is, how long you want the extensions to stay in and whether you want to put them in yourself.
Hair weft is hair gathered on a long weft that's sewn onto a braid or attached with micro rings. It adds a lot of volume quickly and suits normal to thick hair.
Invisible weft has an ultra-thin top that lies flat against the head and is attached with micro rings. It suits thin to normal hair.
Double drawn weft is sorted so the shortest strands are removed, making the weft just as thick right down to the ends.
Butterfly weft has pre-made holes the micro rings are threaded through. It's never sewn and needs no glue or heat.
Tape-in extensions sit on narrow pieces of tape close to the scalp. The method is quick, lies flat and is gentle on fine hair.
Keratin strands are attached strand by strand, so you get length or volume exactly where you want it. 40–80 strands give thickening and 100–140 strands a lengthening.
Clip-ins, halos and ponytails you put in and take out yourself in a few minutes, without a salon.
Lace closures and lace frontals are hand-tied hairpieces on thin lace that are sewn in with a weave for a natural hairline.

How long do the extensions last?
Tape needs a move-up every 8–10 weeks. Micro rings and micro weft need a move-up every 2–3 months, and the hair can be reused. Keratin strands last 3–4 months and are then reinstalled. A full weave with a closure or frontal is redone about every three months. Clip-ins, halos and ponytails stay in only on the day you wear them.

Colour and texture
The hair comes straight, wavy, curly and in Deep Wave, as well as Yaki and Kinky, with a shared colour chart. Send us a photo of your hair in daylight without flash and we'll match the shade for you. The most natural result often comes from blending two shades.

How to care for your human hair extensions
Wash with a mild, sulphate-free shampoo in lukewarm water and let the lather run through the lengths. Conditioner and masks go on the lengths and ends, never near the bonds. Let the hair air-dry, brush from the ends upwards and always use heat protection before styling. Hair extensions get no nourishment from the scalp, so the right hair care helps them last longer.

Installation in Stockholm and Uppsala
We've worked with hair extensions for 17 years and do installation and reinstallation at our salons in Stockholm and Uppsala. Tape, keratin, micro rings, hair weft and weaves need a technician, while clip-ins, halos and ponytails are easy to use at home. The consultation is free, in the salon or online, and we'll help you choose the method, quality, colour and amount of hair.
