If you still have your own hair but it has become thinner on top, along your parting or at the hairline, you don't need to start with a wig. A hair topper covers only the area that needs covering, and your own hair stays in place all around it.
It's also the product where an in-person fitting makes the biggest difference of all. A topper has to blend with the hair you already have – and that can't be done from a colour code.
What we look at
How large an area needs covering. We measure the area on your head. A base that's too small won't hide the edges, and one that's too large puts unnecessary weight on hair that is already thin.
Where your own hair is strongest. The clips need to sit where your hair can support them. If they sit in sparse areas they pull – and then the topper is attached wrongly.
The colour in daylight. Your own hair has several shades in it, and a topper in a single flat colour stands out straight away. We match it to your lengths, not your roots.
The length. The topper is cut into your own hair so the transition disappears. We do that on the spot, at the same appointment.
When a topper is enough
- Thinner along the parting or on top, but full hair at the sides and nape.
- A receding hairline where you want coverage at the front.
- After pregnancy or a period of hair loss, while your hair grows back.
When a wig is the right choice instead
- When your hair has thinned all over the head, not just on top.
- With ongoing hair loss, where the need for coverage changes from month to month.
- When your own lengths are too short to blend with the topper.
We'll tell you straight if we can see that a topper won't solve what you want to solve. That's better than you buying the wrong product and giving up on it after two weeks.
Book an appointment
Allow about an hour, including the cut. Come with your hair washed and dry, without much product – that way we see both colour and density as they really are.
