Luxury Peruk Äkta Hår – Chloe, Lace Closure

A human hair wig that is properly cared for can last for several years. The same wig without proper care may be worn out within six months. The difference comes down to fewer habits than you might think.

Wash at the right intervals

Washing both too often and too rarely causes wear. If you wash it every week, you rinse out moisture that the hair cannot replace on its own. If you almost never wash it, products, sebum and sweat build up, and then no deep conditioner can penetrate.

A reasonable interval with daily use is every sixth to eighth wear. Use lukewarm water, never hot, and always let the wig air-dry.

Store it on a wig stand

The cap keeps its shape and the hair is not pressed flat. A wig that is left compressed in a drawer loses both its movement and fit, and it is difficult to style it back into shape.

Protect the hairline

Never pull on the lace when taking off the wig. Instead, hold the cap at the nape and lift it forward.

If you use glue or tape, dissolve the residue with the intended product every time rather than scrubbing it off. This is by far the most common reason lace turns yellow prematurely.

Keep an eye on the wear parts

The elastic band and lace are consumable parts. They should be replaced, not taken as a sign that the wig has reached the end of its life. A new band restores the fit, and a new closure or frontal provides a new hairline.

That is the point of being able to distinguish between the parts: you replace what is worn out, not the entire wig.

Schedule service in advance

The single most important habit. Nine out of ten wigs that arrive in poor condition have not been treated incorrectly; they have simply gone without treatment for too long.

Our service agreement includes two washes and one restyling over the course of a year, and the greatest benefit is not the price but ensuring that the wig actually comes in when it should.

Annual wig care schedule

  • Every week: brush from the ends upward in sections and apply leave-in conditioner to the lengths.
  • Every sixth to eighth wear: wash with sulfate-free shampoo and deep conditioner.
  • Twice a year: professional deep cleaning to dissolve residue around the hairline.
  • Once a year: check the elastic band and lace, and replace anything that has lost its function.
  • As needed: reshape or thin the hair when the style has lost its shape.

Frequently asked questions

Does an unused wig need to be cared for?

It does not need to be washed while it is stored, but it should be washed before being put away. Product residue and sebum left for months break down both the hair and the lace. Also inspect it before you start using it again.

Can I brush the wig with the same brush I use on my own hair?

Preferably not. A regular brush with balls on the tips can catch in knots and pull hair out of the cap. Use a wider-spaced wig brush or a wide-tooth comb, and always start from the ends.

What should I do if the hair has started tangling at the nape?

Deal with it while it is still minor. Detangle it with plenty of leave-in conditioner and your fingers first, never with a brush on dry hair. If the tangle has become firmly matted, professional deep cleaning is the next step, after which hair can be ventilated again if the area has become sparse.
