Shrinkage is greatest here
Deep Wave hair draws up more than any other texture. The difference between stretched and unstyled length is substantial, so choose a good step longer than you would have in straight hair. If you are unsure, get in touch before you order – that is easier than exchanging afterwards.

The pattern has to match your own
In Deep Wave hair, matching is about more than color. The curl pattern itself needs to resemble your own for the transition to be invisible, and patterns vary more between people than shades do. Send us a picture of your hair in its natural state, not stretched or freshly blow dried, and we will see what fits. The color itself is forgiving – the curls scatter light so that small differences in shade disappear.

Human hair or vegan
Remy human hair can be colored darker and heat styled, but the pattern needs reshaping after every wash. Vegan synthetic has the curl built into the fiber and takes it back on its own as the hair dries, which saves a great deal of time in this particular texture – but it cannot be colored.

Choose the method to suit your own hair
If your hair is fine or thin, tape and keratin strands are the gentlest. With normal to thick hair, hair wefts work well. Clip-ins, ponytails and afro puffs you put in yourself with no permanent attachment. Tape is moved up every 8–10 weeks, microrings every 2–3 months, and keratin strands stay in for 3–4 months before being reset.

Care – moisture is everything
Deep Wave hair dries out faster than any other texture, because sebum has the hardest time travelling down a tight curl. Extensions get no sebum at all from the scalp. Apply a mask to the lengths and ends often, never at the attachments, and work the product in while the hair is damp. Never brush it dry – detangle with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb while the hair is damp and conditioned. Let it air dry and braid or gather the hair loosely at night to reduce friction.
