We sell both, so we have no reason to steer you either way. Here are the differences that actually decide it.
A wig
A wig sits on your head, not in your hair. You put it on and take it off yourself, it requires no hair of your own at all, and you can wear it the same day you decide.
- Works however much of your own hair you have
- You decide when you wear it
- Your scalp rests when you take it off
Mesh
Mesh stays on until we remove it. You wake up with your hair in place and don't have to think about it – but it does require some hair of your own to attach the net to.
- Nothing to put on and take off
- Nothing to think about when training, in the wind, or when someone hugs you
- Requires new growth and a scalp that's in good shape
Prescriptions cover both
Many people think a prescription (rekvisition) only covers wigs. It can also be used for hair extensions, mesh included. Rules and amounts differ between the Swedish regions, so bring your prescription along – we'll go through what yours covers and handle the contact with the region for you.
The question that usually decides it
Is it about how the hair looks, or about how it feels to wear?
A well fitted real hair wig looks just as natural as mesh. The difference is felt in your head, not seen in the mirror. Anyone who describes a wig as something she puts on tends to feel better switching to mesh once the hair allows it. Anyone who finds it a relief to take everything off in the evening tends to want to keep the wig.
It doesn't have to be either or
Many people have both. A wig for the first months, mesh once the new growth is there, and the wig kept as an option for the days you want it. Neither rules out the other.
How we help you choose
Come in and try both. We have real hair wigs in our shop at Norrtullsgatan 26B and do mesh in the salon in Stockholm and Uppsala – so you can see both options on yourself before you decide.
