Balayage and highlights with hair extensions

A balayage look with hair extensions is created in a completely different way than on natural hair. Instead of bleaching afterwards, we choose hair in the right shades from the start and blend them.

Why we don’t bleach

Bleaching is harsh on hair extensions, which cannot recover. A balayage that looks soft from day one but becomes tangled after a month is no bargain.

How we create the transition

  • Darker strands closest to the roots
  • Mid-tone shades in between
  • Lighter strands at the ends and around the face
  • A few strands in your own base colour scattered throughout, so it doesn’t look striped

Face-framing

The two lightest strands are always placed closest to the face. This is the single most important detail in making a colour blend look expensive rather than artificial.

When your natural colour grows out

If you have balayage on your natural hair, the transition moves downward as your hair grows. During the move-up, we adjust the placement of the lighter strands so that the transition moves with it.
