The most common question we get is how long a keratin treatment lasts. The short answer is three to five months. The longer answer is that the duration is almost entirely determined by what happens between treatments. Washing frequency is the single biggest factor. If you wash your hair every day, the treatment fades faster than if you wash it every other day or every third day. Next comes product choice: sulfates and sodium chloride strip out the keratin with every wash. Chlorine and salt water are the next factors. A week-long holiday with daily pool use can cost you a month of longevity. High heat without heat protection and hard water also have an effect. Wash less frequently and always use sulfate-free shampoo and sulfate-free conditioner. Use lukewarm water. Apply Cocochoco Keratin Repair Mask once or twice a week to continuously replenish protein. Brush gently and avoid unnecessarily high heat when styling. If you swim regularly: wet your hair with clean water and apply conditioner before getting in. A saturated hair strand absorbs less chlorine. The effect fades gradually, so there is no sharp cut-off point. Most people repeat the treatment when frizziness starts to return and styling takes longer, which is usually every three to five months.
