Have you received a requisition (rekvisition) from your doctor – a wig grant from your Swedish region – but aren't sure what to actually do with it? Here's the whole process, step by step.
Step 1: You receive the requisition
The requisition is issued by your doctor or other healthcare staff authorised to prescribe hair replacement. This often happens at the oncology clinic, the dermatology clinic or your GP, and many people receive it at the same appointment where their hair loss is first discussed.
The requisition should state who it's for, the amount granted and how long it's valid. If anything is missing, ask for a corrected one before you order. It's much easier to sort out beforehand than afterwards.
Step 2: What the grant covers
The grant covers the hair replacement itself: a wig, hair topper or other hairpiece. In most regions it also includes fitting and cutting in – the work that makes the hair replacement truly yours.
Both the amount and any patient fee are set by each region separately, and the figures change from time to time. Your own region is the only reliable source for what applies right now, and to you specifically.
Step 3: What the grant doesn't cover
You pay for the upkeep yourself. Washing, repairs, replacing tape or lace, shampoo, conditioning treatments and wig stands aren't included.
It's worth knowing from the start, because that's where the costs show up about six months in.
Step 4: Choose an approved supplier
A requisition can only be used with a supplier approved by the region. We've been an approved supplier in all 21 regions for many years, which means you can use your requisition with us wherever in Sweden you live.
On Wigs on requisition in Sweden you'll find the page for your region, for example Västra Götaland, Skåne, Östergötland or Örebro.
Step 5: Send it in or bring it along
If you live near one of our salons, simply bring the requisition to your appointment. If you live further away, start with a free consultation by video call and then send the requisition to us.
We handle the contact with the region and invoice them directly. So you don't have to pay up front and claim the money back afterwards.
Step 6: If the cost is higher than the amount
If you choose a hair replacement that costs more than the requisition covers, you pay the difference yourself. That's completely allowed and very common, especially if you want human hair.
We always tell you the final total before anything is ordered, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my requisition in a different region from the one I live in?
The requisition is tied to your home region, not to where you shop. Since we're an approved supplier in all 21 regions, you can use it with us in Uppsala, in Stockholm or online.
What do I do if I've lost my requisition?
Contact whoever issued it. A new one can usually be issued, but it has to come from your healthcare provider. We can't issue one for you, and we can't start an order without it.
Can I use a requisition when shopping online?
Yes. You have your consultation by video call and send us the requisition, and we handle it exactly as we would for a salon visit. You then book your fitting and cutting in once the wig has arrived.
