The fewer times you wash, the longer both your color and hair extensions will last. Dry shampoo is the tool that buys you those extra days - but it is most often used incorrectly: too close, too much, and too late.

The most common mistake: you wait too long

Dry shampoo absorbs oil. It does not remove oil that has already settled into the hair. Therefore, spray it the evening before the day you need it, or on the morning of day two - not on day four, when your hair is already flat.

How to apply it

  1. Part your hair in straight sections across your head.
  2. Hold the bottle approximately 20–30 cm from the scalp. Holding it closer causes white spots.
  3. Spray briefly into each part, not along the entire length.
  4. Wait one to two minutes. This is when the product does its job.
  5. Massage it in thoroughly with your fingertips, then brush through your hair.

Pro Dry Shampoo works well for most hair types.

When you want volume, not just freshness

Dry shampoo provides a little lift but is not a volumizing product. If you need real height at the roots, KIS Root Volumizer is made specifically for that, while KIS Dry Mud provides matte texture and grip through the lengths when your hair feels limp.

If you have hair extensions

Spray onto the scalp between the attachment points, never directly onto them. Powder that builds up around a tape or keratin bond can make the attachment slippery and collect dirt. Also brush through thoroughly afterward - residue left behind is a common reason hair feels coarse.

Where is the limit?

Two consecutive days with dry shampoo is reasonable. Three or more days starts to cause buildup, and then your scalp may itch even if your hair looks fine. Dry shampoo postpones washing; it does not replace it.

Frequently asked questions

Does dry shampoo work on hair extensions and wigs?

On your own hair and scalp, yes. It is rarely needed on the extensions themselves, since extensions do not produce sebum and therefore do not become greasy. On a wig base, you should avoid it completely - powder in the knots is difficult to remove and can make the base feel coarse.

What should I do if the dry shampoo leaves white residue in dark hair?

Nine times out of ten, you have sprayed too close or have not massaged the product in. Increase the distance, use less, and let it sit for a few minutes before massaging. If the problem persists, dry shampoo is available in a tinted version - or use it only on the scalp and brush it out thoroughly.

Can dry shampoo affect hair growth?

The product itself does not, but a layer left in place day after day can irritate the skin and clog the pores, and an irritated scalp is not a good environment for new hair. Wash it out thoroughly at regular intervals and it will not be a problem.
