FAQ

Frequently asked questions about your new wig

Gather your own hair flat against your head, hold the wig at the nape and pull it forward, then place the hairline just above your own. Adjust the straps until it feels secure. We go through it step by step in the blog post Putting on your wig step by step, and you can also book Learn to put on your wig with us.

For most people the wig feels natural after a few days to a couple of weeks. Start with a few hours at a time and increase gradually. If it presses or itches, the straps may need adjusting.

Yes, on wigs with lace along the forehead, such as Lace Front Plus, the lace is trimmed to follow your hairline. Cut carefully, a little at a time and close to the hair. If you'd rather not do it yourself, we can help with lace trimming.

Wash a human hair wig once a week to every other week, as needed. Wash a synthetic wig about every other week. Read more in care tips for human hair wigs and care tips for synthetic wigs.

Use gentle, sulfate-free products made for wigs, and a conditioner that moisturizes without weighing the hair down. See our hair care for human hair wigs and hair care for synthetic hair.

A human hair wig can be heat styled just like your own hair – use heat protection and keep heat away from the lace. A synthetic wig tolerates heat up to 120 °C, so always check the temperature before you start.

No, all our wigs are glueless and stay in place with adjustable straps. If you want extra hold, we recommend Ultra Hold, Fair Glue Gel, Glue Gel Spray or Ultra Hold Lace Front Tape. Ultra Hold and the tape are removed with C-22, while Fair Glue Gel and Glue Gel Spray come off with water. See our wig accessories.

Store the wig on a wig stand or in its net, somewhere cool and dry and out of direct sunlight. Always let it dry completely before putting it away, and don't sleep in your wig.

A Luxury human hair wig lasts 1–2 years with normal use, and up to 5 years if the lace is repaired or replaced. Classic lasts 2–4 months, Premium 3–5 months and a synthetic wig 1–3 months, depending on how much you wear it.

Yes. Luxury wigs can be renewed after about 7–9 months – we replace the lace, re-sew the wig or add hair so it regains its fullness. We always look at the wig first and tell you what can be done. See all wig services.

Your new wig – everything you need to know after buying

Bringing home your new wig is a big day. With a little know-how from the start, the wig feels natural sooner, fits better and lasts much longer. Here we've gathered the most important things we teach our customers in the salon – from day one to washing, styling, storage and service.

Day one

Unpack the wig and gently shake out the hair. Comb it with a wig or extension brush, always starting at the ends and working your way up so you don't pull on the hair at the base. Try the wig on in front of the mirror and adjust the straps at the nape until it feels secure without pressing. If the wig has lace along the forehead, such as Lace Front Plus, the lace is trimmed to follow your hairline. Do it a little at a time, or let us help you with lace trimming.

Putting on the wig

Gather your own hair flat against your head, hold the wig at the nape and pull it forward over your head. Place the hairline just above your own and then adjust the sides so the wig sits straight. In the blog post Putting on your wig step by step we go through it in detail, and if you want to learn in person you can book Learn to put on your wig.

The first few weeks

It's normal for the wig to feel unfamiliar at first. Wear it a few hours at a time and increase gradually. All our wigs are glueless and stay in place with adjustable straps, but if you want extra hold for workouts or long days, you'll find glue and tape among our wig accessories. Don't sleep in your wig, as it wears on the hair and the lace.

Washing and care

Wash a human hair wig once a week to every other week, as needed. Wash a synthetic wig about every other week. Use gentle products made for wigs, wash in lukewarm water and let the wig air dry on a wig stand. Detailed advice can be found in care tips for human hair wigs and care tips for synthetic wigs, and you'll find the products in hair care for human hair wigs and hair care for synthetic hair.

Styling

A human hair wig can be styled just like your own hair – with a flat iron, curling iron and blow dryer. Always use heat protection and keep heat away from the lace. A synthetic wig tolerates heat up to 120 °C, so check the temperature before you start.

Storage

Store the wig on a wig stand or in its net, somewhere cool and dry and out of direct sunlight. Always let it dry completely before putting it away, so it keeps its shape and the hair stays soft.

Common mistakes to avoid

What most often shortens a wig's life is brushing from the base downwards, washing it with regular shampoo that dries out the hair, or putting it away while it's still damp. Synthetic wigs are easily damaged by too much heat, for example from an oven or a hot blow dryer. Also avoid sleeping or showering in your wig, and let it rest on a wig stand between wears. With the right routines, both the hair and the lace last much longer.

Service and repair

We're happy to help with washing and styling, cutting and coloring your wig. Luxury wigs can be renewed after about 7–9 months: we replace the lace, re-sew the wig or add hair so it regains its natural fullness. We always look at the wig first and tell you what can be done.
