We offer two types of closure: HD lace closure and silk base closure. In the video below, we show you the difference up close.
What a closure is
A closure is a hand-tied hairpiece used to make a wig or to finish off hair extensions at the forehead. It creates a hairline that looks like a real scalp, giving the illusion that the hair grows straight out of the skin.
It is also used to protect your own hair: when you want to change your hair colour without dyeing, wear a protective style, or hide bald patches and a thin hairline while the hair underneath gets to rest.
HD lace closure
Lace is a thin, transparent mesh where the hairs are tied one by one. HD lace is the thinnest version and blends in best against the skin.
From some angles the knots can show as tiny dark dots, which can be softened by bleaching them. The downside is fragility: the thinner the lace, the more easily it tears.
Silk base closure
A silk base consists of two layers of fabric with the knots hidden in between, so only the hair strand itself comes through on top. No knots are visible at all, and the parting looks like skin.
The trade-off is that the base sits slightly higher and feels firmer than lace. It is also warmer to wear, since it has two layers instead of one.
How to choose
If you want the most realistic parting possible and do not mind a slightly firmer feel: silk base. If you want the thinnest, softest and most invisible finish at the forehead: HD lace.

Frequently asked questions
Can you colour the hair in a closure?
If it is human hair, it can be toned darker, but keep the colour away from the base itself. Colour on lace can permanently darken the mesh, and on a silk base the fabric can become discoloured.
How long does a closure last?
With daily wear, usually one to two years. It is a wear part – once it has become brittle or yellowed, you replace it and keep the rest of the wig.
Which is best if you sweat a lot?
HD lace. It breathes better than a silk base, which has two layers and traps more heat against the skin.
