Hair extensions can be coloured, but not in just any way. The difference from your own hair is that they lack the scalp's ability to recover – whatever you do stays.
The basic rule
Toning darker is fine. Bleaching lighter is not something we do. Human hair extensions have already been treated during production, and further bleaching makes them porous and tangled in a very short time.
Common reasons to tone
- The hair has become slightly lighter after a summer
- You've coloured your own hair darker and need to match
- You want to remove a yellow tone or warm up the colour
Let us do it
Toning hair extensions requires a shorter processing time and a milder product than on your own hair. We always test on a small strand first – it's the only way to know how that particular hair takes colour.
When you colour your own hair
If you have extensions in place, the colour is applied at the scalp, never over the attachments. Let us know when you book that you have hair extensions, and we'll set aside the right amount of time and plan the work in the right order.
Changing colour completely? Do it before your hair extensions are installed.
