Hur mycket hår behöver du till butterfly weft? - Fairwithhair

The amount of hair decides whether the result looks balanced or not. Too little gives thin ends, too much weighs on the scalp and makes the hair fall heavily. Here are the guidelines we work with in the salon. Our butterfly weft is sold in 50-gram packs, so you can combine several depending on your needs.

Based on your hair thickness

Thin or fine hair: one to two rows. Butterfly weft is light enough to be worn even with fine hair, but keep the amount down so the rows don't pull.

Normal hair: two to three rows. This is the most common amount and gives soft volume throughout.

Thick hair: three to four rows. Thicker natural hair needs more filling for the hair to fall evenly all the way to the ends.

Length affects the amount

The longer the hair you choose, the more you need so that the ends don't look thin. A short extension needs less hair than one that reaches down to the waist.

Texture matters too

Straight hair needs the most to look full, since every strand lies flat. Wavy hair creates volume on its own, and curly or Deep Wave hair needs the least of all. The more texture, the less hair you need.

How to tell the amount is right

The hair falls softly, the ends feel full rather than wispy, the rows sit securely without pulling, and everything feels light when you move your head.

Frequently asked questions

Can I start with a little and add more later?

Yes. Many start with two rows and add a third at the move-up once they're used to the feel.

How do I know the amount before I book?

We assess it at the consultation, which is free of charge. We look at your hair thickness, the length you want and how you usually wear your hair.

What happens if I choose too much hair?

The result feels heavy and the rows can start pulling on the scalp. It's better to add a row later than to start too high.
