Vad är butterfly weft? - Fairwithhair

Butterfly weft is a hand-tied hair weft where the short hairs are folded inwards instead of upwards. This creates an unusually thin edge with no return hair, which lies flat against the head and doesn't add height at the attachment.

  1. What? – Thin hand-tied weft, attached with micro rings, no glue or sewing.
  2. Who? – Fine to normal hair, wants volume without bulky attachments.
  3. How long? – Lasts for months, move-up every two to three months.
  4. Pros/cons? – Pros: flat, light, reusable. Cons: doesn't give maximum volume.

Why it lies flatter than a regular hair weft

A traditional machine-sewn hair weft has a more noticeable seam where the hair is stitched on. You can feel that seam when you run your hand over your head, and it can show when you wear your hair up. Butterfly weft is designed to avoid exactly that: the edge is thin and soft, so you can wear several rows without adding height. We go through it in more detail in the difference between butterfly weft and regular wefts.

Because the weight is spread over a wider area, individual strands aren't put under as much strain. That makes the method a safe choice even if you have fine or sensitive hair.

How it is attached

Micro rings are clamped onto your own hair to form a row. The butterfly weft is then attached to the rings through the pre-punched holes in the weft. Nothing is sewn, and no glue or heat is used. That is also what sets the method apart from a sew-in, where the weft is stitched onto a braid with needle and thread.

Who the method suits

Butterfly weft suits you if you want volume and length without feeling the attachments, and if you often wear your hair up in a ponytail or bun. It works with straight, wavy and curly hair. Our human hair butterfly weft comes in all three textures.

If, on the other hand, you want maximum fullness, a thicker hair weft or double drawn is a better choice. Butterfly weft is made for a discreet result, not for the largest possible amount of hair.

Lifespan

The weft stays in for months and is moved up every two to three months as your own hair grows. Because it is human hair, the same weft can be reused several times with the right care.

Frequently asked questions

Can butterfly weft be cut to width?

Yes. Thanks to its construction, the weft can be cut without shedding, which makes it easy to adapt to the shape of your head.

Can you feel it when you sleep?

Much less than a regular hair weft, because the edge doesn't add height. Still, braid your hair loosely to avoid tangles in the lengths.

Is butterfly weft suitable if my hair is very thin?

Often yes, but it depends on how much of your own hair there is to attach to. We assess that at the consultation.
