Butterfly weft is soft and light from the start, but it's the care that decides how long the hair keeps its shine and softness. Since hair extensions get no natural nourishment from the scalp, they need more moisture than your own hair.
Brushing
Brush twice a day with a soft extension brush. Always start at the ends and work your way up, and hold the base with one hand so you don't pull on the rows.
Washing
Wash every five to eight days with sulfate-free shampoo. Gently massage the scalp between the rows and avoid rubbing the lengths. Leave conditioner on the lengths and ends, but keep it away from the attachments themselves. Rinse thoroughly and always blow-dry the attachments completely.
At night
A large share of the wear happens at night. Braid your hair loosely before bed, use a satin or silk pillowcase and never sleep with wet hair.
Styling
You can straighten, curl and blow-dry, but always use heat protection and keep your tools on low to medium heat. Work in small sections and finish with a few drops of hair oil on the ends. Never go close to the edge itself with hot tools.
Products
Sulfate-free shampoo, moisturising conditioner, leave-in conditioner and hair oil for the ends. A hair mask once a week keeps the lengths soft. Avoid products with a high alcohol content – they dry the hair out.
How to tell your routine is working
The hair falls softly, the shine lasts, you don't get unusual tangles and the attachments feel secure. If the hair starts clumping at the attachments, it's usually conditioner that has got too close to the edge, or attachments that weren't blow-dried.
Frequently asked questions
How often do I need to book a move-up?
Every two to three months, depending on how fast your own hair grows. You can book a reinstallation here.
Can I use dry shampoo?
Yes, but spray it on the scalp between the rows and not directly on the attachments. Residue that collects at the edge makes it stiff.
Can I swim and work out as usual?
Yes. Tie your hair up before working out, rinse out chlorine and salt as soon as you can and let the attachments dry completely before putting your hair up again.
