We now sell monofilament lace front wigs. The construction is designed to look natural exactly where a wig usually gives itself away the most: at the hairline and the parting.

Lace front at the front

A thin lace at the hairline where the hairs are hand-tied. This makes the transition to your skin soft and realistic, especially when you wear your hair away from your face.

Monofilament on top

A thin mesh panel at the parting where the hairs are tied one by one. Your own skin tone shows through slightly, so the parting looks like a real scalp instead of a seam.

Why we chose this construction

The difference between a wig that looks real and one that doesn't lies more often in the construction than in the hair fibre. A classic machine-sewn top can be nice, but the parting becomes flatter and more obvious.

With monofilament and lace front, you get a result close to a much more expensive wig, without the hair needing to be human hair.

What you'll notice straight away

  • A parting that looks real instead of sewn
  • A softer hairline that blends into your forehead
  • An overall look that moves more like your own hair

But isn't it synthetic like everything else?

The hair fibre is synthetic, just like on many wigs. The difference lies in how the wig is built. The same type of synthetic fibre can look completely different depending on the construction – that's the whole point of this model.

If you'd like to read more about the differences between cap types, see our guide Monofilament, mono top and silk base. Browse the full range of our monofilament lace front wigs.

Frequently asked questions

Can I part the hair wherever I like on a monofilament panel?

Within the panel, yes. The hairs are tied one by one and can be moved in different directions. Outside the panel the machine-sewn rows take over, and there a parting will show.

Can this wig handle heat tools?

Only if the fibre is listed as heat-resistant, and then at a low temperature – up to 120 degrees. Regular synthetic fibre can't handle any heat at all, and the damage can't be repaired. Always check the product page first.

Does the lace front need to be glued?

No. The wig is held in place with a band and combs, and the lace rests freely against the skin. Glue or tape is only used if you want the edge to lie completely flat or if you have little of your own hair to attach it to.
