We carry out keratin treatments in our salon every week, but we also sell the same professional products for home use. A near-salon result is entirely achievable on your own – as long as you don't cut corners on any of the steps. For the whole process step by step with pictures, see our guide to keratin treatment at home. You need three things: Cocochoco Clarifying Shampoo for the deep cleanse, a keratin formula suited to your hair type, such as Cocochoco Original, and a flat iron with titanium plates that reaches a high enough, even temperature. An ordinary ceramic flat iron with uneven heat is the most common reason for a so-so result at home. Beyond that: sectioning clips, an applicator bowl, a fine-tooth comb and gloves. Wash your hair twice with clarifying shampoo and don't use conditioner. Blow-dry your hair completely. Divide it into four main sections and work through them with thin strands at a time. Apply the keratin evenly from about one centimetre from the roots out to the ends. Leave it on according to the instructions on the packaging. Then seal the product in section by section with several slow passes of the iron. It's better to take strands that are too thin than too thick. Every step is described in more detail in the step-by-step guide. Moisture left in the hair when the keratin is applied. Sections that are too thick when flat ironing. And washing your hair too soon afterwards – the first 72 hours aren't a recommendation, they're a requirement. From the very first wash, use sulphate-free shampoo and sulphate-free conditioner. Sulphates wash out the keratin, and then both the result and the money you've spent are gone. If it feels like a big project, you can always book the treatment with us in Stockholm or Uppsala instead. What you need
