Sew-in extensions mean your own hair is braided in thin rows and hair wefts are sewn onto the braid with needle and thread. No glue and no heat touch your own hair.
- What? – Hair wefts sewn onto a mini braid with thread.
- Who? – Normal to thick hair, wants volume and length.
- How long? – Lasts for months, move-up every two to three months.
- Pros/cons? – Pros: gentle, lots of hair, reusable. Cons: the rows can be felt the first days.
Why sew-in is our most booked method
This is the method we do most in the salon, and the reason is simple: it gives the most hair for the least strain. Because the weight is spread along a whole braid rather than at individual points, no single strands are overloaded – which makes the method a good choice even if you have lost hair to heavy bonds before.
We place the rows according to your hair growth and how you usually wear your hair. If you always have a middle part, the rows are placed differently than if you have a side part or often wear a ponytail. We decide this together before we start.
If you want an even flatter result, butterfly weft is an alternative: a thinner hand-tied weft with a softer edge, attached to micro rings instead of being sewn. The difference is most noticeable when you wear your hair up or sleep on it.
What the treatment includes
The treatment includes color matching in daylight, braiding, application and cutting so the extensions blend with your own hair. You leave with finished hair.
The salon and store are at Norrtullsgatan 26A, a few minutes from Odenplan. Treatments are booked in advance via the website.
Frequently asked questions
How much hair of my own do I need for a sew-in?
Your hair needs to be long enough to braid, in practice roughly shoulder length or just below. If it is shorter, we will look at another method at the consultation.
Can I feel the rows the first days?
Yes, it is normal to feel the braids during the first day, a bit like after a tight ponytail. The feeling goes away once your scalp gets used to it.
Can I ask for looser braids if I have a sensitive scalp?
Yes, just tell us. We braid with the tension needed for the weft to hold, but it should never hurt.
