Keratin hair extensions, also called nail hair, are one of the most widely used methods on the Swedish market. The strands have keratin wax at the top and are attached to your own hair with a heat tool.
How it works
We take a small section of your own hair together with an extension strand, place them against each other and heat the keratin wax with the tool until the bond closes around the hair.
The method suits you if you want a very natural result, since the bonds in the hair are almost invisible. Keep in mind that the tool works at a high temperature – which is why the application should always be done by someone who knows the method.
Advantages
Keratin is an airy method that makes it easy to vary your hairstyle. It works on almost all hair types – choose strands in the same texture as your own hair, and for very tightly coiled hair we start with a consultation.
Disadvantages
If the hair is not cared for, it can mat at the bonds, and then you risk losing strands. This can happen regardless of the extension quality. Also be careful with heat near the bonds – the keratin can soften.
How long does nail hair last?
Nail hair is one of our longest-lasting methods. The bond lasts 3–4 months, after which we remove and re-apply the strands. If you wait too long, you risk tangles.
Can the strands be reused?
Our Luxury nail hair can be reused, which is far more economical than buying cheap extensions every time. When it is time to redo the hair, you buy refills and replace the bonds on the extensions.
Which extensions should you choose?
We recommend our Luxury hair, which is 100 percent human hair and can be used several times. If you use our recommended KIS products, we also provide a hair quality guarantee. They moisturize and strengthen both the extensions and your own hair.
How long does your hair need to be?
You need at least 10 cm of your own hair for a good result.
How long does the treatment take?
It depends on how much hair you want. Thickening takes about one to one and a half hours, while a full lengthening can take up to three hours.
Can I wear my hair up?
Yes, but the keratin wax can be slightly visible. That is why it is especially important to choose a strand color that blends into your own hair color.
Does keratin damage my own hair?
The method can be hard on the hair if it is not cared for. If you do not brush your hair through properly, tangles form, and the extensions can mat at the bonds. That is why our care advice is important to follow.
How do I choose a color?
If you have your extensions done with us, we recommend coming in for a consultation so we can match the color to your own hair. If you do not live in Stockholm or Uppsala, you can book a video consultation.
If you shop yourself in our online store, there is a color chart showing all the shades we offer. Keep in mind that colors can vary slightly on screen.
