Sew-in extensions, also called weaving, are one of the most proven methods of hair extension. Your own hair is braided in thin rows close to the scalp and a hair weft is sewn onto the braid with a needle and thread. No glue, no heat and no chemicals touch your own hair.

What you need to know before your first time

Your own hair needs to be long enough to braid. In practice about shoulder length or just below. If it is shorter, we would rather look at another method.

You will feel the rows for the first day. Much like after a tight ponytail. The feeling goes away once the scalp has adjusted. It should never hurt – tell us straight away if it does.

You need to set aside time. A full application takes longer than tape or clip-on, because every row is braided and sewn by hand.

How the treatment works

We start with color matching in daylight and decide where the rows should go, based on your hair growth and how you usually wear your hair. If you always wear a middle part, the rows are placed differently than if you often wear a ponytail.

Then the hair is washed, braided and the wefts are sewn on. Finally the extensions are cut into your own hair so the transition disappears. You leave with finished hair.

Durability and move-up

The wefts stay in for months and are moved up every two to three months as your own hair grows. The same hair can be reused several times, which makes the method cheaper over time than it looks at the first order.

Care

Wash with sulfate-free shampoo, massage the scalp between the rows and blow-dry the braids completely. Brush from the ends upward with a soft extension brush, and hold at the bond so you do not pull on the rows. Braid your hair loosely at night.

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt?

No. The braids should feel firm but never painful. If you have a sensitive scalp, tell us and we will braid more loosely.

Can I style my hair as usual?

Yes. Human hair can be straightened, curled and blow-dried. Use heat protection and stick to low or medium heat.

How much hair do I need?

It depends on the thickness of your own hair and the length you want. We assess it at the free consultation.
