Hair Care for Synthetic Hair

Synthetic hair needs its own care – regular shampoo dries out the fibre and makes it dull. Here you will find shampoo, conditioner and sprays for synthetic wigs, synthetic hairpieces, hair toppers and synthetic hair extensions.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I use regular shampoo on synthetic hair?

Regular shampoo is made to dissolve sebum from the scalp. Synthetic fibre has no sebum, so the surfactants attack the surface instead and the hair becomes dull, rough and static.

How often should I wash my synthetic wig?

Every other week is enough for most people. If you wear it every day or sweat a lot, it may need washing more often, but it's better to wash too rarely than too often.

How do I wash synthetic hair step by step?

Detangle the hair dry, rinse in lukewarm water and spread the shampoo from top to bottom without rubbing. Apply conditioner to the lengths, rinse, pat out the water and let it air-dry on a wig stand.

Can I use heat tools on synthetic hair?

Yes, up to 120 °C. Always start on the lowest heat – higher heat melts the fibre, and that damage can't be repaired.

My synthetic hair is dull and tangled. Can it be saved?

Often, yes. Gently detangle from the bottom up, spray Enhancer Spray – Synthetic Hair into the lengths and give the hair a round of conditioner. Fibre that has melted from heat, however, can't be restored.

Can I use regular conditioner, oil or a mask?

No. Oils and heavy masks form a film on the synthetic fibre and make the hair flat and greasy. Use products made for synthetic hair.

How do I dry synthetic hair?

Let it air-dry on a wig stand straight after washing so it keeps its shape. Don't brush the hair while it's wet.

Do the products work on synthetic hair extensions?

Yes. The same products work on synthetic wigs, synthetic hairpieces, hair toppers and synthetic hair extensions.

How long does a synthetic wig last?

1–3 months, depending on how often you wear it. The right care extends that time noticeably.

Can I colour or bleach synthetic hair?

No. Synthetic fibre doesn't take hair dye, and bleach dissolves it. If you want a different shade, choose a wig or hairpiece in that colour.

Everything you need to know about Hair Care for Synthetic Hair

Hair Care for Synthetic Hair
Synthetic hair is beautiful, affordable and holds its shape, but it doesn't live on the same terms as your own hair. The fibre gets no nourishment from the scalp and can't repair itself, so the right products decide how long your synthetic wig, hairpiece or synthetic hair extensions look new.

Why regular shampoo doesn't work
Regular shampoo is made to dissolve sebum and dirt from the scalp. On synthetic fibre, the same surfactants are too harsh: they dry out the surface, make the hair dull and static and make tangling worse with every wash. Shampoo for synthetic hair cleanses gently, restores the fibre's softness and reduces static.

Our products for synthetic hair
Shampoo – Synthetic Hair and Conditioner – Synthetic Hair are the foundation of the routine. Nourishing Spray – Synthetic Hair adds softness and makes the hair easier to detangle. Enhancer Spray – Synthetic Hair is moisturising and works like a conditioner in spray form – it helps work out tangles and adds shine. If you'd like the whole routine in one set, there's Synthetic Kit – shampoo and conditioner for synthetic hair. The same products work on synthetic wigs, synthetic hairpieces, hair toppers and synthetic hair extensions.

How to wash a synthetic wig
Wash your synthetic wig every other week, more often if you wear it daily or sweat a lot. Detangle the hair dry, rinse in lukewarm water and let the shampoo run through the hair from top to bottom without rubbing. Apply conditioner to the lengths, rinse, pat out the water with a towel and let the hair air-dry on a wig stand so it keeps its shape. Only brush once the hair is dry, and always from the bottom up.

Heat and synthetic hair
Our synthetic wigs and synthetic hair extensions can handle heat up to 120 °C. Always start on the lowest heat, because melted fibre can't be repaired.
