Tape-in hair extensions — a flat attachment that works even in fine hair
A tape weft is a small, wide section of hair with a thin strip of tape along the top edge. Two wefts are placed against each other with a thin section of your own hair in between, like a sandwich. The attachment ends up flat, soft and flexible, and that is exactly why tape works in hair where heavier methods do not.

The gentlest option for fine hair
Tape spreads the weight across a wide surface instead of hanging from a single point. That means less pull on the scalp than methods where everything hangs from one small attachment. No heat and no glue are used during application, and the attachment lies so flat you cannot feel it when you rest your head on a pillow.

Is tape right for you?
The method works best if your own hair is at least shoulder length, so the attachments have room to hide. It is a good choice for fine or thin hair, where thicker attachments would show through. If you train a lot, swim often or use oil-rich products near the scalp, tape holds less well, and another method may suit you better.

How much hair you need
How much you need depends on what you want to achieve. For added thickness, one to three packs is usually enough. For length and volume you need four to six, and for a full extension six to eight.

Invisible tape
Invisible tape has a transparent attachment surface instead of a visible strip. The difference shows most in thin and light hair, where an ordinary tape edge can otherwise peek through a part or in strong light.

How the application works
Your own hair is divided into thin sections. Two wefts are placed against each other with your strand in between, so the attachment closes tightly. No heat, no glue and no tools are needed. A full application normally takes one to two hours in the salon.

Move-up every 8 to 10 weeks
Since your own hair grows, the attachments need moving back up toward the scalp every eight to ten weeks. At a move-up the wefts are released with remover, the hair is cleaned and new tape is applied. The hair itself is reused several times; only the tape is replaced. Removal is always done with remover, never by pulling. Let the liquid work until the attachment releases on its own, since incorrect handling is the most common reason your own hair comes away with it.

What must not touch the attachments
Oil, silicone and conditioner dissolve the tape. Apply conditioner and masks to the lengths and ends, never at the root transition. It is the single most common reason wefts start to slip, and it is easy to avoid.

Care
Brush from the ends upward with a brush made for extensions and hold at the root. Wash with a mild, sulfate-free shampoo in the direction of the hair. Use heat protection and avoid placing the flat iron directly on an attachment. Braid the hair loosely at night and never let it dry bunched together at the root transition.
