Keratin treatments and hair botox are often sold side by side, so they're easy to mix up. They solve different problems, and you may well need both – just not at the same time. A keratin treatment replenishes protein and seals it in with the heat of a flat iron. The result is smoothing: less frizz, more shine and shorter styling time. It lasts three to five months and needs 72 hours of rest afterwards. Despite the name, Cocochoco Hair Botox is a hair mask – not an injection and not a chemical treatment. It's enriched with collagen, botanical oils and proteins and works like a shot of moisture for the hair strand. The result is fullness, bounce and softness – not smoothing. There's no waiting time afterwards. If your problem is frizz, stubborn volume and long styling time, choose a keratin treatment. If your problem is dry, tired, worn hair that has lost its bounce but that you don't want to straighten, choose hair botox. If you have both frizz and dryness, keratin usually comes first, with hair botox as maintenance in between. Don't do them close together. Both treatments need a sulphate-free shampoo and a sulphate-free conditioner to last. Sulphates break down both the keratin and the softening ingredients in a botox treatment.
