Mono Top – a Hand-Tied Crown That Reads as Your Own Scalp
Mono stands for monofilament, a fine skin-toned mesh into which every strand of hair is knotted by hand, one at a time. Because the strands sit individually in the mesh, they can move in any direction, exactly like hair that grows. The result is that you can part the hair wherever you like on top and always see scalp underneath – no seam and no fixed part.

Why the top matters most
The top is the part of the wig people see most: in daylight, when someone is taller than you, and in photos taken from above. That is where the hand-tying goes. Across the rest of the cap the hair sits in wefts, which makes the wig both more durable and better value than a full lace where the entire cap is hand-tied.

A common choice for hair loss
Mono top is the construction most people choose when hair has fallen out through chemotherapy or alopecia. Partly because it looks natural even up close, and partly because the hand-tied mesh sits softly against a bare scalp with no seams pressing against it.

The difference from mono part and full lace
Mono part has the hand-tying in a defined parting section rather than across the whole top, so the part stays in one place. Full lace is hand-tied throughout the cap and lets you put the hair up completely, but costs more and is more delicate. Mono top sits in between: free parting on top, but no ponytail.

Combinations
Mono top is often combined with lace at the hairline. With both a hand-tied top and lace at the front, the wig is convincing from the front and from above. Check the product name – if it says both mono top and lace front, the model has both.

Human hair or vegan
Vegan takes back the shape of the style on its own after washing and needs no restyling. Human hair can be cut, heat styled and colored darker at a salon, and lasts several years. Both are available in mono top.

Care
Be gentle with the hand-tied top. Brush from the ends upward and never pull hard at the section near the part, since every strand sits in its own knot. The wig needs washing roughly every fifteenth to twentieth wear.

Fit
Most of our wigs are medium and adjust at the nape. If the cap needs taking in or letting out, we do that in our Wig Atelier. If you have a sensitive scalp there is Comfort Cap, our cap with no clips or combs that sits with adjustable drawstrings.
