Peruken glider – beror det på storleken eller bandet?

Wig slippage is the most common reason people stop wearing them. They start adjusting them in front of mirrors, avoid windy days, and end up putting them in the box. The problem almost always lies in one of three things, and they require completely different solutions.

Test 1: is the size correct?

Measure the circumference around your head, along the hairline in front, above your ears and over your neck bone. Compare with the wig's stated size.

If the cap is too big, the wig sits too far down on your forehead and moves backwards during the day. If it is too small, it presses and gives you a headache towards the evening, and you start unconsciously pulling on it. The cap can be both sewn in and widened according to your measurements, which is included in the Custom Fit .

Test 2: has the elastic band lost its elasticity?

This is the most common answer, and the easiest to miss. Pull the band out at the neck and let go. If it springs back immediately, it's fine. If it feels loose, or has visibly stretched, it's over.

A band will lose its elasticity after about a year of daily use, faster if you sweat a lot or wash the wig often. A new band costs 490 SEK and solves the problem completely in most cases.

If your wig doesn't have a ribbon at all, you can sew one in.

Test 3: Are grips and straps not enough?

If you have little or no hair of your own, there is nothing for combs and bands to grip onto. Then it doesn't matter how well the wig fits – it just rests on your skin.

Then a salon attachment is the right solution. We attach the wig with skin-friendly tape or wig glue, and it stays in place for three to six weeks at a time. Then you can exercise, shower and sleep without thinking about it.

Four common mistakes

The wig is placed too far back. This is the most common thing. The hairline should be where your own hairline is, not a centimeter behind.

No capliner. A thin cap underneath provides friction to receive and at the same time protects the wig from sweat.

Own hair that is loose. Braid or pin hair flat before putting on the wig. An uneven base will cause the wig to slip.

You adjust instead of fix. If you've started adjusting your wig several times a day, it's not a habit you should learn to live with. It's a sign.

Not sure which of the three it is?

Book a free consultation, online or in the salon in Uppsala or Stockholm. We will look at the wig and tell you which of the three it is. Often the cheapest solution will solve it.

Frequently asked questions

Do silicone strips and wig grips help?

They can work as a complement when everything else is already right, but they won't fix a wig that's the wrong size or has a worn-out band. If they're used to compensate for a poor fit, they tend to irritate the skin instead.

Can I adjust the size myself with the internal straps?

Yes, the small bands with hooks inside the cap are for just that, and they are enough for small adjustments. If you need to tighten them to the maximum to make the wig fit, the cap is too big, and then it needs to be sewn in.

Does the wig slip more when you sweat?

Yes. Moisture reduces friction between the cap and the skin, which is most noticeable in the summer and during exercise. A capliner that absorbs moisture helps the most, and if you need complete security when moving a lot, attachment is the answer.
