When hair starts to grow back after chemotherapy, there is a period that few people talk about: the hair is there, but it is too short to be a hairstyle and the wig starts to feel unnecessary. This period can be long.
Mesh is often the method of choice at that particular time.
Why mesh and not something else?
New hair growth is short, fine, and often different in texture than the hair you had before. Individual attachments – keratin, tape, micro rings – are all carried by your own hair, and those hairs aren’t ready to carry anything yet.
Mesh works the other way around. A soft mesh rests against the head and the hair extensions are tied into the mesh, so that the weight is distributed over the entire surface instead of hanging from individual hairs. No heat, no glue, no chemicals on the scalp – and your own hair is allowed to grow uncontrollably underneath.
When it's time
There is no one date that applies to everyone. What matters is how the scalp feels and how much hair has grown back, not how long it has been since the last treatment.
Check with your doctor or contact nurse first. They know your treatment, we don't.
We say no sometimes
If the scalp is still sore, dry or irritated, we prefer to wait a few weeks. It's not a defeat – it's the difference between a treatment that feels good and one that needs to be removed again.
In the meantime, a wig , turban or clip-on serves as a bridge.
Come here before you decide.
The consultation costs nothing and you don't have to decide anything on the spot. Many people come just to find out where they stand – how far they are, what can be done now and what can wait.
You don't have to explain anything you don't want to explain. Feel free to include a picture of your hair as it looked before – for most people, the goal is to recognize themselves, not to change.
A step on the way
Mesh is replaced continuously as your own hair grows longer and stronger. For many, it's just one step: mesh first, then microbraces or sew-in hair extensions when the hair will take it.
Requisition
If you have a requisition from your region, it can be used for both wigs and hair extensions, including mesh. Rules and amounts differ between regions - bring your requisition when you arrive, and we will review what yours covers and take care of the paperwork for you.
Book a consultation
Read more about how the treatment works in our guide about mesh , or book an appointment with us in Stockholm or Uppsala. If you would rather start with a conversation remotely, that's also fine.
